King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton (KHBTCC), is taking part in Careers@Hilton Live: Youth in Hospitality Month, Hilton Worldwide’s largest-ever career event to showcase the many opportunities available in the hospitality industry to young people and other job seekers. The aim of this initiative is for all Hilton hotels to organize and host events as an expression of Hilton Worldwide’s Open Door commitment, which aims to impact one million youth by 2019.
In partnership with The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and the Jordan Applied University, KBHTCC launched ‘What’s the Beef” competition, an initiative that called upon students from both schools to design and cook a main course dish. Students participating from both schools where asked to submit their recipes and prepare their dishes in front of the judging committee. The recipes and the performance of each chef were well-studied and evaluated by the judges who announced four finalists, two of each school, who will be competing in the second and final stage of the competition that will take place at the premises of The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. The results announced were based on four factors that affected the judges’ choice: creativity, originality, formulation and dish presentation.
Chef Laith Matalka and chef Mousa Aboud from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and chef George Siryani and chef Motaz Zayed from Jordan Applied University College of Hospitality and Tourism, will be competing fiercely to win the this competition. The 1st place winner will be offered a contract of employment with a Hilton Worldwide hotel in the Gulf region in addition to featuring his dish – the winning dish- for a period of one year on a restaurant menu at the upcoming Hilton Dead Sea Resort & Spa. As for the rest of the runner-ups, they will also be offered a guaranteed contract of employment with the Hilton Dead Sea Resort and Spa.
